So, a lot has happened? Like my mother calling the mental hospital on me, but whatever. A lot of nice Gretchen things have happened, so that's good. I'm too exhausted to talk about my life right now, because omg awful. But I thought I would go ahead and state that
timandnorah and I are totally going to be roommates. It's happening. Have a Christmas list meme with my wishes that I feel awful for asking for.
Step One- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
Step Two- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it. You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call. There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
1. Any Playbills or theatre programs. I don't care if it's a Broadway Playbill or a program from your local community theatre's Shakespeare play. I love those. Anything like that.
2. Foreign or old issues of Vogue, fashion advertisements, fashion photos, your favorite magazine (not just fashion) articles, etc. (good idea,
ballion.)
3.
Music download links or cds! I love new music, and burning a CD or uploading it is a cheap (or free!) easy way to share it! I'm open to most things. Particular interests right now are anything operatic, or anything that sounds like the Scissor Sisters or the Dresden Dolls, etc.
4.
OPERA ICONS, SWEET JESUS. Or Kathleen Turner icons. Nobody makes these, and it's so sad. Esp. any of the Der Rosenkavalier photos I posted the other day, Maria Callas, or Patricia Racette, because I can already tell I'm going to like her.
5.
A Suburban Shootout moodtheme. This would seriously complete my life. Just let me know if you need screencaps, because I can totally take care of that.
6.
A card, or a postcard from where you live. I love getting mail, so yeah. And then leave your address so I can send you one!
7.
Tracy Letts plays. I don't have
Killer Joe, Bug, Man from Nebraska, or Superior Donuts (is there even a play text released for that!?) GOD I LOVE THAT MAN. And I don't say that often.
8.
Christopher Guest movies. I only own
A Mighty Wind, so yeah. I don't even care if they're copies. Srsly.
9.
A new journal layout? Everytime I look at this one, it makes me sad. )':
10.
Anything related to anyone I love or like. Or anyone I've mentioned liking, ever. Photos, burned dvds, interviews, etc. ANYTHING. (The short-ish list: Janet McTeer, Judy Davis, Haydn Gwynne, Tallulah Bankhead, Anna Chancellor, Kathleen Turner, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kate Baldwin, Carrie Fisher, Stevie Nicks, Bernadette Peters, Patti LuPone, Kathleen Turner.)
